How to Navigate 2026 Trends

Hint: Find Your True Style

With an abundance of information on new styles, new trends and influencers telling you what is trending for the new year, it’s easy to loose your style and stop buying with intention.

As a personal stylist, here are some of my tips to stay true to your style and stop impulse buying while you scroll:

The 3 Word Method

Made famous by LA stylist Allison Bornstein, come up with 3 words that define your style. Edgy, preppy and classic? Yes - that is okay! Most of us have words that differ from each other, that is what makes you have your true style. I am also a strong believer that this dichotomy is what makes someone actually have style!

Pinterest

Love it or hate it, Pinterest is a GREAT way to hone in on your style. Create an account and add a board specifically for “inspirational style”. My recommendation is to start searching your 3 words and then your every day lifestyle! So, mine would be “casual edgy preppy classic style”. You will begin seeing style inspiration that aligns with you - and simply start pinning!

As you add pins, your style will likely begin to have themes. This is where the good stuff happens! Notice those themes and you will start seeing an overall picture of what is important to you. Hiring a personal stylist helps bring these aspirational looks to life!

Question Yourself When Shopping

When you are shopping, consider keeping these questions on your phone to refer back to:

  1. Does this piece go with at least 3 items in my closet?

  2. Is it comfortable?

  3. Do I have similar pieces that serve the same purpose?

  4. Does it fit my every day lifestyle?

  5. Does it align with my style words and Pinterest board aesthetic?

Trust me, I LOVE looking at new trends for each season and the new year. But it has to fit into your authentic style and your lifestyle to truly create an intentional, well curated closet.
