How to Dress in a Transitional Season

Dressing during transitional seasons is always tricky - especially when you are excited to try some new finds you may have just waiting in your closet to wear! But these times can be a fun season to be extra creative and think a bit outside of the box, too…

Use Layers!

  • Jackets & Cardigans: Pull out those blazers you may not wear a lot to use as jackets over a long sleeve tee and jeans. You don’t need to save items like these for dressier situations, pull them out and use them on a regular basis! I love pairing fall like jackets (say, leather moto jackets) with white longer skirts, for example. Or wearing linen pants with your favorite leather jacket adds style and interest to an outfit.

  • Button-down Shirts: This is a great time to utilize your button down shirts! Pair with your trousers and pants and add sneakers for a laid back look.

Tops & Skirts

  • Again, it’s time to pull out and utilize those blouses and shirts - mix them with light wash denim for a spring like, warmer weather look.

  • Pair longer skirts with your go to sweaters from winter. For example, wear a camel cashmere sweater with a long black or white skirt and add some sneakers to the look.

Footwear

  • This is really the time to pull out those loafers!

  • Sneakers also shine during this season. Wear them with longer skirts and sweaters for an on trend ensemble.

This is a time of year my clients reach out to me to go through their closets - and determine what they may be missing from their wardrobe for the warm weather ahead. Contact me if you are in need of a closet edit and suggestions of new items for the season.
